To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Plastikman\u2019s acid techno masterpiece Sheet One has been remastered from the original tapes and reissued on vinyl via Mute and NovaMute.<\/p>\n
Released in 1993 on NovaMute, a subsidiary label of Mute, this album marked the debut of Richie Hawtin\u2019s Plastikman alias. Thirty years later, Sheet One stands as a landmark in the field of electronic music\u2014reshaping what the genre could be and become.<\/p>\n
The album, which introduced one of techno\u2019s most recognizable logos, gained some notoriety for its perforated artwork inspired by acid blotter sheets. Musically, it focuses on laser-precise minimalist rhythms driving a series of echo box acid lines that intensify throughout the album\u2019s tracks, with frequent use of the Roland TB-303\u2014a machine that rose to prominence in electronic music as a staple of the Chicago acid house scene.
